Wind and Rain

Everything is awesome,

except for when it's ordinary.

Everything is beautiful,

except for when it's ugly.

But isn't that all just an opinion,

just a matter of what each person thinks?

For example, I could say that the way the wind

blows through the colorful leaves

and my long blonde hair

and our lives

is awesome,

but all you see is the way the wind

gusts through the fraying leaves

and your now unkempt hair

and your disrupted life

and to you, it's anything but awesome.

So maybe it's all about outlook,

just a matter of what attitude a person holds?

Let's say I see the rain that falls and creates

a drink for the growing flowers

and a puddle to jump in

and a rainow to remind me of

the beauty in rain,

but to you the rain reminds you of

teardrops falling onto your face

and memories better to be washed away

and dangers that all seem

quite unappealing.

Maybe that's what's awesome--

that I can find something

so remarkable

so stunning

so awesome,

but what you notice is something

very unimpressive

very disgusting

very unawesome.

How beautiful it is that I can have an opinion

completely different than yours

and neither one is right or wrong

because it's just an opinion,

just a difference in attitudes and outlooks,

but in the end your opinions make you

and my opinions make me

and that is awesome.
