Why You are Important to Me

Why You are Important to Me

“She ran home and her mother gathered her in her arms”

-Anna Strauss: Hush Mama Loves You

From the very first day,

she was there.

Ready to wrap her arms around me,

and give me never ending love.

Prayers and bedtime stories,

always tucking me in to say goodnight.

Voice like an angel,

singing twinkle twinkle.

My chocolate brown eyes look up to her,

wishing I was that strong.

Always helping others,

never thinking of herself.

Every meal prepared with love,

the kitchen always a mess.

claiming it’s the food's fault,

but we all know the truth.

Time spent together is never dull,

enjoying long walks on the beach.

Chatting all day at a quiet coffee shop,

to giggling as we walk through the mall.

Would travel to the other side of the world,

providing me with every opportunity.

There to lend a hand,

wanting nothing but the best for me.

My number one supporter,

reminding me how strong I am.

Never misses a meet,

and screams loudly in the stands.

There when I need a hug,

or an ear to listen.

Forever my shoulder to cry on,

and to help pick me up.

Able to balance it all,

and still find time for me.

Peacefully listens to my rants,

and tolerate my attitude.

From the very first day,

she was there.

Ready to wrap her arms around me,

Love never ending.
