Why I write?

Someone asked me

Why I write

What is my purpose

What do I aim to incite?

Following is the answer for anyone

Wondering the same.

There is no single reason

Here are a few claims

First and foremost

I write as a way to vent

To let out my emotions via a paper and pen

Those bottled up thoughts that fuel my demons,

Suffocating me, leaving my breathing uneven

Writing for me then becomes a release.

The smell of ink puts my soul at ease

Writing is my passion, writing is my muse

It is my safe space to express life’s abuse.

Also I write for all those who can’t,

Those whose ghosts have left them without a chant

To show them that they are not alone

That they can fight the thoughts to which they feel they’re prone

The power of words never ceases to amaze,

They can form deep cuts, or set a sliver of hope ablaze

They can inspire one to stand up tall

Or brake one down causing them to crush and fall

In the end I guess that’s what motivates me most,

Thinking my words could be someone’s horizon to a dark gloomy coast.

Very honest expression... Emotional and authentic. Did you mean to write " silver" or " sliver?" The rhyme enhances the message to a point, but I find free verse more freeing- one doesn't have to stick to the rhyme scheme and thoughts can flow with less restriction.
