Why do I write?
I write because I see the world as no one else does
I see the wonder
The majesty
The love and the hate
The bones of our world
All spun out in silver moonlight
Waiting for my eyes to catch the gossamer threads
And spin them into words
Words that others can see and feel
Words that can express only a shadow of the way things really are
I write because I see the good
The love of a new child
The pride of an old parent
The joy of a simple day
I write because I see the bad
The hate
The pain
The endless struggle
I see this, and I know
That you can’t have the good without the bad
You can’t have white without black
And I know
I know that this must be shared
I can’t keep the wonders of a world like ours to myself
I am not a perfect medium
I cannot show perfectly the wonders I wish to express
But as long as I see this amazing world
I will write
Why do birds fly?
Why do crickets chirp?
It is in their nature
As it is in mine to write
To let words flow from my pen
Into the hearts of those who cannot see as I see
So that they may share the wonders I have seen
As long as I live
I will write
