I write because I'm angry

I write because I'm sad

I write to talk anout the things

I do and do not have

I write when I am lonely

I write when I need space

I write to hold dear memories

So that they are not erased

I write for drunken driving

For wrong decisions made

I write to let out steam

Or certain things that should be said

I write in celebration

In numbness or in fear 

And whether or not you like it 

I'll still be writing here

I write to make a statement

On my soapbox I stand tall

For writing is my strength and voice

It is the voice of all

Our country was established

On a list of black ink words

For those who wish a better life

Let your voices be heard
