I was introduced to writing by friends in middle school
That's the reason why I thought it was cool
Emotion lingered deep within my soul
Burning within me like embers of coal
Poetry became a good medium to express what I thought
So I began thinking of what I had sought
God, friends, and family came to mind
They cast a light on what I tried to find
So I wrote on those things to express my emotions
My writing let people understand my reasons and notions
