Why I Write
Location
What inspired me to start writing poetry was I read the works of Dr. Maya Angelou and Nikki Giovanni
I was so in awe by their breath taking words, their usage of literary devices----similes, metaphors, pathetic fallacies and so on
Not only that, but they were African-American females who use their words to evoke emotion, change, and confidence into to the minds of their readers
Their words inspired a spark of inspiration in and from that point on I decided to write
I write only when I have something to say, when my mind is overcrowded with words they have a habit of spilling onto paper
I hope to one day make a change for those who read my poetry
Poetry helps me to break away from the chaos of the world that I hear about on the news or read about it in a local newspaper
It comforts me in good and bad times
It doesn't judge or criticize
It will be my best friend until the end of time
This is why I write
