Why?

Ecclesiastes 5:6 New English Translation (NET Bible)

Do not let your mouth cause you to sin,
and do not tell the priest, “It was a mistake!”
Why make God angry at you
so that he would destroy the work of your hands?

Why?

Why the questions? Why hunger?

Why do we want to understand?

All that’s far beyond our capacity?

Why frustration lingers any longer?

Why travel on someone else’s land?

Why do we overflow with curiosity?

Where are the humble? Where are the meek?

Why do we want more than we need?

Always at the expense of many others

Where is the importance? Why greed?

Why is there lust? Why God’s speed?

We surely don’t get here any further

Why misleading comfort? Why no contentment?

Where are Godliness and His call?

That’s somewhere hidden in the “soul”

Why do we subdue our environment?

Aren’t they really not after all

The signposts to God’s pleasing and His Goals?
