To the Whispers of Abandon

Dear Abandon,

You have whispered in her ear.

Jeered at her for years.

You remind her about those who have left;

Left her unkept

You have convinced her she’s worthless.

Stripped this girl of her value.

Stolen the happiness of a child and made her blue.

You convinced her that she was the one at fault;

That she was the reason for it all.

She was the reason no one stayed for long.

As she grew more attached,

You would take them to leave her unpatched.

The lesson she’d take from all of this,

“Never grow attached to those who leave without miss.”

You told her she wasn’t loved,

Was unimportant.

She began to believe it.

Another voice, still and small,

Gently began to call.

This voice summoned,,

“My child, my child I have never abandoned you.”

She smiled and knew,

This voice spoke words that were true.

You tried to tear her down.

Tried to rip her heart.

Until God stepped in and took over to do His part.

This child then grew wise to understand,

No matter how painful, God still had a plan.

People and emotions come and go,

But the Lord above never fails.

That is the lesson she has now taught you.

“God will never abandon.”
