Whispers

Psalm 103:13-14 New English Translation (NET Bible)

13 As a father has compassion on his children,

so the Lord has compassion on his faithful followers.

14 For he knows what we are made of;

he realizes we are made of clay.

Philippians 2:3 New English Translation (NET Bible)

3 Instead of being motivated by selfish ambition or vanity,

each of you should, in humility, be moved to treat one another as more important than yourself.

Whispers

Subjects come and seem to stay

In disarray and confusing thought

Scattered everywhere around

In mismarked rooms within my mind

Somewhere someone had to pay

As in the past, indeed, I was  bought

Before I disappeared into the ground

Along with losers of every kind

I was named somewhere in the past

Not so labeled, I understand

Just a way to be recognized by others

Since there are so many like me here

A name that surely won’t be the last

As many with me walk hand in hand

To be placed where few seem to bother

About me and mine and my peers

I am known by very few

And that seems, for me, sufficient

The more I fade into the background

The better it looks to help survive

Lost in some back row pew

I hunger to be content and proficient

For the call with a gentle sound

That comes my way in daily life
