My soul shines through in the broken places.
In the twists and turns of consciousness' maze
In the divots where I have been scratched by those around me
And the caverns where a knife was taken to my heart.
I breathe from this place.
This is where I draw the water I pour onto a page
A place of hurt.
A place of healing.
A place where unrest turns gladly over
And rest begins for my wearied spirit.
Here my soul shines,
So I hold it in my hand to pass on
And hide away from the world.
