Where I Am From

I am from memories
Being a child
Playing in the mud
Not a care in the world
I am from love
The caring letters and warm hugs
From family and friends
I am from the beach
Soft, salty breeze
And sand between my toes
Times when I was closest to my grandpa
I am from the country
Wild and free
No noise, just silence
I am from horses
The smell of sweat, and hay
Waking up early to feed
Staying late to clean the barn
Brushing, riding, and caring for my horses
I am from a mother and a father
A marriage that has lasted 26 years
No pain, just unconditional devotion
They give me a home and pride to claim their name
I am from the court
The sound of the crowd
The rush that jolts my body as I step on the court
The smell of hard work and commitment
Perseverance
Coach yelling
Players perspiring
All for the love of the game
I am from skateboards, dirty clothes, lacrosse, speech class,
Video games, computers, and joy
All things that my brother loves
I am from long night fights to early morning make ups
He is always there
I am from music
The anthem to my soul
Rock, pop, R&B, rap, country
Anything to get my fix
Most importantly,
I am from God
Who decided my life was worth creating
Special, for his own purpose that I need to discover
