When I Wasn't Looking
Location
He sat down next to me.
Oh great another one on one with a guy,
Maybe he’s smart.
I could use help in this class.
I should introduce myself,
He is pleased to meet me.
His ordinary smile does nothing, but disarms me.
Weeks later the same boy sat down next to me.
He’s kind of charming,
Why is he looking at me like that?
Maybe he likes me.
Maybe this is a date, not just a walk in the mall.
I grab his hand,
Just to see what it feels like,
A perfect fit to mine.
Months later the same young man sat down next to me.
How did I get so lucky?
We link hands on the couch,
A motion so familiar,
Warm feelings flood my body.
I love this young man and somehow,
He loves me back.
This young man was always looking.
He knew I am the one, right from the start.
All he had to do was show me through time.
