What You Know

To leave everything you have known

Is simply the continuation of Life.

We live like everything is for sure,

When everything comes as a fight.

What you know is permitted,

A single representation of the culture and land.

What you know barely matters

When you have those you love holding your hand.

To come to a new place

Where everything is foreign and new,

We can be completely overwhelmed,

When we know nothing, for everything is new.

What you know is permitted,

A million possibilities lie ahead.

What you know barely matters

When inside, though surrounded by love, you feel dead.

New wonders abound,

And new fears do, too.

Do not worry about what’s to be found,

The world is open to you.

When things are new, it’s an adventure,

With new mystery and wonder.

When things are unknown

It may be scary, but those you love grow fonder.

What you know is permitted,

This much I know is true.

What you know barely matters,

If with it you don’t know what to do.
