What Would You Change Scholarship Slam

Today I’m different then yesterday,
Today I can see a little bit more of the world,
I can feel other people’s stories, almost like I’m living it in through their eyes,
Today, I am more mature; Filled with a little more sympathy,
My heart grows a little bit bigger every day,
My eyes open a little bit wider,
My smile shines a little bit brighter,

I read into people’s feelings,
Hoping to capture all the pain and run it through my veins so that I can say I understand,
I want to find that one person who will inject my pain into their veins,
I want someone to understand,

Nobody will ever understand your true feelings or struggles,
They are called yours for a reason,
Don’t let your feet sink into the quicksand,
Every grain of sand symbolizing all of your mistakes,
Pull yourself out
Rise above your regret and sorrow,
Smile

Put your tears in a jar and there will stay your story,
Let your pain, mistakes, and the ones who doubt you motivate you,
To rise above the edge of glory
