What matters most

Who I am . . .

I am the son of a schizophrenic mother,

She will remember me as a funny boy and an excellent hugger.

I am the son of a bum, he is my father,

he taught me how to be mentally tougher.

I am the son of a foster mother

Who raised some boys of a different color; they showed me how to be a lover.

she also went through a divorce with a significant other.

I am the son of an alcoholic

for he will toast to all the good times with me,

he is my adoptive father.

I am the son of a hoarder

Making sure that I am in order

for she will always keep me in her heart,

because she is my adoptive mother.

I am a brother of another older brother

Who separated from the family and fell apart

I am the brother of a wonderful sister

she is an adorable sweetheart that stays in my heart.

Now, stuck in the middle

All I am able to do is my part.

I am . . .

The runner that will beat any stop watch,

The kind of swimmer that will take my practice up another notch.

The very person that keeps a careful watch.

My birthday comes after march

For I have a future with the shape of an arch.

I have nothing to lose and so many options to choose

Even though I have a short fuse, I remember to follow all the court rules,

Using all the tools that people were able to share.

For life is not fair

This is why I give a care.

This is what I feel should matter most.
