What is Love?
What is love? The question of all history,
an ancient old mystery, the ultimate gift.
What is love? Not feelings or passion,
or physical action, or butterflies that fade away.
Not chocolate or roses,
or how he proposes, or how long the relationship stays.
People have their opinions
and make their decisions of what they feel is okay.
We make up some reasons
to decipher emotions to know which direction to take.
But love isn’t a feeling
That just seems appealing, but a verb and a choice that we make.
Love is always committed,
And most profited from being sacrificial each day.
Love gives from the start,
Not just from the heart, but from time and energy too.
Love shows great respect,
And forever in affect, of always sharing its best.
Love is patient and kind,
And is hard to find, for it is not based on pride.
Love is not conceited,
But gives without reason, except for the reason implied.
If one loves like he ought,
And gives what can’t be bought, then the joy they receive will be there.
So when relationships pass,
And the feelings don’t last, remember it’s a choice-not a passion.
