What Keeps Me Going

Location

Walking on air, I can see the path

Show me the way to freedom

The fire burns all around me

It engulfs all I’ve ever known

The city before me is dark

Chains extend throughout, weaving around everywhere and everyone

I hear a cry of fear in the air

I hear my own nagging in the backseat of my mind

Where is the sun, the moon?

There’s laughing, snickering

Twisted things are closing in

Scent of dead flesh chokes me

Standing on the air, hoping and waiting

I can see Him over the horizon

The twisted things moan, they gnash their terrifying teeth

And I watch them fall away defeated

In the city the people call out for help

Their call is answered

Those chains shatter; the winds blow them into ashes

Away and away, never to bind the city again

The sun’s rays glimmering light up the land

The moon shimmers in the distance

Flames are all around me and I see Him

My Protector, My King, My Savior

And I sing, “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty!”
