What if the hare won for once?

There once was a tortoise

And a hare,

Who knew their story

Quite well.

The tortoise would win

And the hare would feel sad,

Because not once in his life,

Did the trophy he had.

One day he had enough

And the hare got mad,

At how he was never the winner

And he sketched up a plan.

He sat on a rock,

And took out his pen.

He wanted to make sure,

The “turtle” never won again.

He said,

“Well look over here

I've written my plan,

Of what is going to happen”

And then he began.

With the help of the pig,

I'll make a big mess

So when the tortoise passes over,

He'll have to take a guess.

By that time

I will be gone,

And he'll be behind,

Wishing that with me,

He never picked a fight.

Because I'm at the end

And I don't know where he's at

I hope he doesn't get here

And gets stuck talking to the cat”.

It had been hours

And no one had heard or seen

The poor tortoise

Who was stuck in a stream.

The hare felt bad

He didn't know what to do,

What had happened to the tortoise

Kept him blue.

“It's the end of the race

I don't know what I did

I haven't seen the tortoise

I hope he's just skimmed.

I set up many tramps

I hope he made it through

What do I say to the people

oh! what am I going to do ?”

The hare went home

and the tortoise was never found.

Who knew what would've happened

I'm guessing he drowned.

The guilt is still there

And no one has forgot

About when the hare played a trick

And the tortoise got lost.

This gives us a lesson

Of playing fair,

Don't ever cheat

Or you'll end up like the hare.
