What I Would Do if I Will

Lately, I've been thinking

Thinking about what?

The future.

What my future can be.

Is it realistic?

Of course not, anything imagined or dreamt of is not realistic-

That's not rather positive

You didn't let me finish: anything imagined or dreamt of is not realistic unless you apply it to reality

Huh? What do you mean?

I will tell you my dreams, my goals, what I hope my future can hold for me.

I am in my late twenties, the head writer and executive producer of three hit shows plus the direction of an upcoming full-length movie Starring Aubrey Plaza and Joseph Gordon Levitt as-

Wait a minute, hold on, you're a screenwriter and a director in your future? I thought you wanted to be a counselor or teacher or something?

Well, the path my thoughts are taking is what leads to my dream job; not to mention, a lot of celebrities have psychology degrees.

True, go on.

Before a decade after graduating from college, I am successful from producing hit shows, movies, and being known to be quite the ladies man.

I am starting to think this is more of a fantasy than an actual future.

Shh, it's my fantasy, I mean future.

Where was I? Oh yes: I have yet to reach the peak of my career because there is this thing inside of me. It's telling me why I am where I am instead of where the college me would have wanted.

Why I am reliving my original goals and dream versus my more rational and college-supported career as a psychologist, counselor, or teacher of some sort.

It's for them. Their future.

Their lives.

Their families.

Their education.

I am doing this so no other person has to go through what I did.

And what is that?

It's the life experience that every adult, God forbids a child, goes through at some point in other.

It is a experience that we went through called life but disguised as part of the college experience:

the struggle of a college student, or rather more fitting, adulthood.

From paying back student loans, receiving less financial aid the next year than your first year, and cooking your food while your parents are in another state while the nearest fastfood place is an hour away.

An experience that I do not wish for future college students like you and I to go through, but have to at some point.

So what does being a rich Hollywood big shot have to do with that?

By reaching the fame, I can only hope I can inspire my colleagues as well as richer colleagues to do something.

To grant a student a college education free of charge.

To help remove the burden of buying books so students do not have to cheat the system of finding online versions for their classes.

To pave a brighter road for education when the system continues to fail us and them.

My dream job is more than being a writer as successful as Aaron Sorkin

More than being Scarlett Johansson's fiance (really, her fiance?)

But it is so I can help fund Education with my wealth and influence.

Then why not run for government and change the system from within?

Because you believe that the government does not care about Education when it does.

It is just there are more pressing concerns that may demand more funding and attention.

People tend to prioritize one thing over another like one may love family more than friends.

But what if I love my friends more than my family, or I place education above my mother and father?

But why do we have to place one over another; why put education below prison inmates?

Why can't I prioritize education, my friends, and my family all at the same time?
