What I would change to change the world

Location

Pregnant woman
Gets on bus
No empty seats
No one gets up

Elderly man
Can't reach top shelf
No one looks up
No one offers to help

Does no one see them?
Do none look up or listen?
The opportunities to help,
Lend a hand, be a blessing?

Our focus is wrong
It's all about me
Consideration is gone
As is courtesy

Want to change the world?
Let's start with ourselves
Let's help all those elderly
Reach those high shelves

Maybe, just maybe
ONce we change up our view
All sorts of other things
Will fall in place too

People, communities,
Countries, the world
Is it so hard to be nice
In our thoughts, deeds, and words?

We think change is grand,
Some sort of huge scheme
I think that change
Starts with you, and with me

Let's make courtesy common
Consideration the norm
Between you and me,
We'll take the whole world by storm
