What to Do When It's Over

What do you do when it's over?

There's not very much to say,

There's no way to tell someone not to leave,

When they have no reason to stay,

So what do you do when it's over?

It's hard to know where to start,

Maybe send out a search party,

To find the broken pieces of heart,

What do you do when it's over?

It feels like there's nothing you can do,

For the inner soul cannot be fixed,

With just duct tape and super glue,

So what do you do when it's over?

Time is the biggest fear,

Just wasting away, dreaming, wishing,

That the person you once loved was still near,

The pain you feel is tortuous,

And it won't go away very fast,

But, Honey, if there's one thing I can tell you,

It's that the pain you're feeling won't last,

The best thing to do is start over,

Maybe don't forget the past,

But don't let that be what keeps you,

From finding something that will last,

Put your memories in a jar,

And store them all away,

Have them in the mind's scrapbook,

To ponder some dark, rainy day,

Then focus on the present,

The now is all that counts,

Love can be found 'most anywhere,

In any imaginable amount,

Find something you love to do,

And try your very best,

Surround yourself with loved ones,

And let God handle the rest.
