I was thinking back tonight

About my days spent in the dark

Wihout His light

Without His grace

And I began to wonder

How people saw me

Back before I was saved

Did they think I had it all together?

Because I didn't.

I often felt

Like I was trying to stay afloat

In rough waters

In the middle of a stormy sea.

Did they see me as bright,

Cheerful,

And happy?

Because I was lonely,

Angry,

And quiet.

Did they think I had all the answers?

Because I didn't

And even now

I know I never will.

Did they think I was full inside?

Because I was hollow

And starving,

Yet my appetite

Wasn't for things of this world

But for a purpose in life,

A hope,

A light;

Something to feed

My then lost soul.
