What Confines In Me

Maybe it’s the noise all around me,

That lets the night confine in me.

Knowing that with each hour ticks by,

I get closer to be by your side.

No, it’s not a person,

Yet I feel warm in its an embrace.

Perhaps it is strange,

To finally feel calm after an endless race.

The simple cushion of blankets,

A small scented candle,

Can make the rain go away,

On days it’ll wash away my own stains.

Dark skies with little fireflies,

Seem to make time fly,

Only to make me remember,

I have to do it all again.

But for now,

I’ll rest within my nook,

Wrestle with my thoughts,

And pretend tomorrow isn’t going to start.
