What is this Change?

We’re starving as a country

We needed a change,

But this isn’t what we wanted.

We say “we,”

But we function as “I.”

I didn’t want this

And you didn't want this,

So why did we get this.

We live in a country

Where our leader is a joke.

Our leader strips us of our identity

Disregarding human life and Earth’s life.

We don’t recognize the issues at hand,

Destroying every last piece we should cherish.

We take everything for granted,

we waste what once was impossible.

Where is this change?

We long for a change and we get what we ask for.

It’s time for the jokes to stop

And to wake up.

One day we’ll realize our mistakes,

But it will be too late.
