What about sleep?

Ephesians 5:14

14 Therefore He says:

“Awake, you who sleep,
Arise from the dead,
And Christ will give you light.”

What about ...?

When waking in the morning ... is there a new day or life?

How much of me has been renewed ... how much of me has died?

If bad in me could be removed ... by just a good night sleep

the good in me could expand ... and my heart would grow indeed.

In getting older my life would show ... that pure loveliness is ruling

and not dreams and illusions ... in my fallen nature’s fooling.

Its clammy touch in all I meet ... until it fully smothers

and its bitter taste on all that lives ... in disgust for one another.

Can death grow when I sleep ... and take charge when I awake

squeezing the life out of common hope ... by the beguiling snake.
