What is This?
What is this?
Our world
What has it come to?
Our thoughts
What have they fallen to?
A prejudice mind set has taken over us, racism covering our hearts
Our past, keeping us from living in the present, together, as one
Our children
Making jokes about every race but that of theirs
Our elderly, look down scornfully as we converse with other ethnicities
As if it is the tone of our skin that governs our status in this world
How
Can a human; blood running through their veins, as it does mine
Believe that they can stomp over me and my people like a pack of wolves,
As we are the prey, that they hunt down as animals and smirk at our fall
What
Is it that separates one from another that causes a barrier of color between us?
Nothing,
Is what we felt like after years of hatred and no recollection of it in the minds of our young
But everything is what we are
And what we will continue to be
The world must understand that were are one, created by one, loved by one
And if one of us hurt, we all hurt, one of us cry we all cry
That not one of us should be disregarded
Else we disregard ourselves.
