Weight In Gold

We are always told

We are worth our

Weight in gold. And

That's a sweet sentiment

But I don't think it's

Genuine, and it implies

That someone's worth is

Definable by societal objects.

You are worth every weird thing

You've woken your parents,

Your partner for, every open

Door, every closed door.

Every movie, every book you've

Loved, the thoughts you've had about

Every word, some quotes stick in your

Mind, the ones that apply to your life.

Most of all, you are worth your thoughts.

The bad ones, the good ones, they all combine

To make a person, and thoughts are worth

Everything, the fabric of a mind.

You are not defined by

Societal objects. You are

Worth more than something

Hollow like that.
