We Don't Dream Of Heaven Anymore

We don't dream of heaven anymore

That’s too colorful of a place for us now

We're used to grey walls and metal frames

Monotones and modernity

We forgot the flames of love

And remember the ashes of hate

We go to bed in our grey room and

We don't dream of heaven anymore

Age has aged us to soon

By eighteen we've lost all sense of tune

Where did the lights go

Where did adventure run off to

Time has wandered away and we've lost it

Life has killed us to soon

We don’t dream of heaven anymore

We're to busy paying our dues

College debt and worn shoes

Alcohol for a chance of freedom

Drugs for a sense of feeling

We've become the devils of our childhood fears

That monster under the bed was just our future selves

hiding because it didn't want you to see.

Didn't want you to know

What you would become.

We don’t dream of heaven anymore

We don’t dream much of anything anymore

Resigned to our fate we let go of hope

Hell burned it away a long time ago

We don't deserve halos

We don’t dream of heaven anymore.
