We Are All Equal

Hit and whip!
Beaten and lynched,
We cannot afford to trip.
We are always being wrenched,
By the hands of evil,
Aren't we all created equal?

To be judged because of our skin,
Why should there be a law against us?
We are all of the same kin.
So why did people make such a fuss,
Of us who tried to become better people,
Why can't we be seen as equal?

There was a man name Martin Luther
King Junior,
Who spoke of slavery and equality,
When equality should have been brought about sooner,
But "sooner" had to wait,
Different people were dealt with late.

There are other historical figures,
Who tried to help all those subject to ridicule,
From those who were merely gold-diggers,
Looking for nothing but an endless desire for jewels,
And using those who looked different as their tool.
When at last all we wanted was to pull the trigger,
The movement of equality was so much bigger.

At least we see how it is to be,
Now in our day,
We have found the key,
There are less discriminating words to say...

Now, I am equal.
Now we are all equal,
In our own way.
That is what I have to say.
