We

We lined up
Despite the hangman's call
We lined up
Even when protesting seemed to not help at all

We stood up
Backed by God's promises to men of this land
We stood up
Because after you have done all, you still stand

We sat in
As people threw food condescendingly
We sat in
And were arrested repeatedly

We remained united
All of us in civil disobedience
We remained united
And endured in peaceful silence

We gained equality
An innate right of God's children
We gained equality
Not judged by the color of our skin
