The way I see it
The 1 % makes all the choices
While the 99% listens to
Those men and women who say
They want what’s best, but
The truth is it’s all about money

War controls our corporations’ minds
Making them come up with plots
To convince the everyday people
That killing innocent people is “patriotic”
That spending money on war is more important
Than giving the money to hospitals and schools

The way I see it
Nowadays everyone wants to be a “cover girl”
And the ones that don’t are pushed away
Being a good person doesn't matter to most
People eat nothing to make themselves feel beautiful
While their life means nothing if they aren't skinny

The media portrays make up and face lifts
Instead of promoting that you should
Love yourself just the way you are
They show television shows full of
Meaningless drama and famous people
They make you believe that you aren't good enough

The way I see it
Music today is a catchy tune and worthless lyrics
Songs are 4 minutes long with repeating lyrics
Throughout the whole song
When back in day songs had a new line
Every time with a beautiful meaning

People listen to songs about drugs
Talking about how the cops can kiss their ass
Saying how amazing being drunk is
Talking about hooking up with a different person every night
Everyone thinks they’re successful, but they never are
They end up being tossed out just like their last hit single

The way I see it
People force their beliefs on others
Shoving it down the worlds throat
But when you try to tell what you believe
They close their eyes and ears pushing
You away, isolating you and not realizing the hypocrisy

Religion replaces human rights
And those who don’t believe in what they do
Are shunned and treated unfairly and threatened
They are excluded and unexpected by them
All the while the aren't even following their own beliefs

The way I see it
This generation is screwed
Unless we take a stand for what’s right
We have to care if we want to survive
We have to change our path
Before were crushed

There is hope
Everyone has something they can contribute
They just have to take a hold of it
And use it for not just them
But to help this world as a whole
By being selfish we are only destroying ourselves

I am a music artist that loves how lyrics can impact a culture or a generation. I read your poem and it spoke to me in a way I used to speak to myself. I told myself to reach out and touch the world in a way that only brave people do. I lost sight of that because of all the wrong reasons. You found it in me. It was hidden between the cracks of my own insecurities. I want to reach out to masses and help make change. Email me at TristonAllen85@gmail.com. This is real this is not a fake email or post. Please hit me back
