Waves

Standing on the beach,

warm breeze blowing on your sunkissed face,

white hot sand slipping between your pruney and fidgety toes.

The dull roar of the ocean signals the start of a wave.

The bright tone of your voice calling my name signals the start of wave inside of me.

The waters build,

My emotions build,

they slowly rise.

Soon they peak,

and these waters become a picturesque wave, showcasing the ocean in all her beauty.

The adoration and unconditional love I have for you that has built inside of me for so long,

pours out into a wave that swallows me whole with visions of your sunkissed face,

and how you articulate my name.

You showcase me in all my beauty.

The wave crashes on the shore and gently rocks back and forth on the white hot sand,

before receding back into the ocean in its entirety.

My love for you crashes on reality when I’m reminded that you deserted me,
even when you promised you’d never even imagine doing such a thing.

I rock back and forth with misery and anger,

before I compose myself entirely.

And then it all goes away,

yet this natural routine never ceases.

More waves are certain to come.

Life’s a beach,

yet being with you only in those brief moments that waves allow,

makes the expression not as happy as it should be.
