Water Lily

The greatest treasure the world can offer,

Is a truthful friend that's blameless and pure.

That friend is like a water lily,

Floating into comfort you.

It silently approaches,

Cautious to not alarm.

It brings a bit of beauty

Into your world of disarray.

That water lily distracts you

Just like a perfect friend.

They are hopelessly devoted,

In both good and bad dreams.

They point you to Christ,

Yet ask nothing in return.

A friend like this one

Is what I strive to earn.

Maybe one day I will be one,

But until that fateful day,

I pray that God sends one

Right into my way.
