The Watch
Location
I never leave home without my watch.
I must count the seconds till we meet,
Constantly staring down at its face
Tick tock.
And up to find yours. Not yet.
Tick tock
I thought that I found you two times before,
I looked up to see those attractive faces
But time continued
Tick tock
It did not stand still at the moment of meeting.
Tick tock
Once I was positive we had met,
And the hands had stopped!
But the battery was just a dud.
Tick tock
With this fact, time continued.
Tick tock
Where are you?
When will you find me?
The hands are running faster and time is running out.
Tick tock
Will we meet before I am run-down?
Tick tock
Or is my hand never to join with yours?
Is it all futile; what is my fortune?
Am I destined to run the circle alone?
Tick tock
Always watching for that link to complete me.
Tick tock
Or perhaps you, too, are out there,
Staring down at your own watch,
Waiting for me to enter your timed world
Tick tock
And we both just need to look to see.
