Wasp and I

Thu, 12/24/2020 - 10:14 -- kausar

One summer day
Lazing by the window
I saw a wasp
Orange and yellow

I jumped from the chair
Screaming in fear
Afraid of the sting
As the wasp flew near

I jumped up and down
Though not yet stung
The tug of war
Already begun

I shooed and swatted
With all my might
Hiding behind the curtains
Shaking with fright

I opened the windows
Closed the doors
Pulled down my sleeves
Then swatted some more

I switched on the fan
Whooshed like the wind
Made quite a racket
Even threw some things

I prayed to the dieties
To protect me from the sting
I called for mommy
I sang all the hymns

Despite all my efforts
The wasp was winning
And though i couldn't see
I was sure it was grinning
I surrendered the fight
My hands in a clasp
And as I ran through the door
Out followed the wasp!
