wars

Thu, 04/28/2016 - 02:50 -- joe mn

some wars are won as we lose

but ours was lost and so our fight

was to find war if only to lose...victory

we sold our bronze armour if only

to die in war but wealth to us restore

and now we seek the bricks with which to

build our forts that shall not fall

if only to gather clay for us to make a name

...lost

for them that look to fame, shame is given instead

for him that is called lame, running becomes the game

and the hungry feed the poor on the sweetest of nothings

as the homeless toss and turn in concrete divans

and now the rich crawl and beg for more

from them that have none at all...charity

that them with rugs for apparel must pay

for their royal robes that need to be dragged

on the street rather than be worn

so now the poor thief shall be judged by the rich

that taught him the very art

and the hungry shall be fed by the juicy promises

of help and their pots remain a haven for vermin

it is in this war that we find where victory lies

in defeat,so we bow our heads and alert our minds

that some wars are won still as we lose.
