The Warrior Within

They said they would handle it

That they understood

That I didn’t have to worry about him hurting me anymore

But my mind keeps crawling back to the memory

And the feelings of hurt, worthlessness and anxiety

Only intensify when I discover

When they said they would handle it, they only meant

They would handle concealing the truth

And with my mind busy searching in the dark

It was easy for them to act concerned

All these years later

My continuous searching has led my discovery of the light,

Of the truth.

Now I won’t back down

I won’t stop fighting

Instead I listen within to the warrior who cries

“Keep fighting for Yourself,

You are the only one who will”
