Warrior

Everyday,
Varying shapes, sizes, and colors
Weave in and out of moments.
Faint murmurs from indistinct forms
A word or two caught,
but there is no way to track its origins.

It is a struggle to know who said what
Or, even, whom said what.
Constant eye movement
Constant back-and-forth
Between various conversations and people.
Everything seems garbled
with no clear hints to the message.

Everyday,
The battle between noise and language
Is fought with hard-wons or heavy failures.
Explanations ironically fall on deaf ears,
A lack of understanding follows, or
An Apathetic response…

It's alright
if you are actually deaf
If you actually can't understand the language
If you misheard
But if you have audio processing defiency
Then you are treated as if you are dumb, being difficult, and as a failure.
The Problem, though, is that is far from true!

It may hurt and confuse you,
But it is a part of you.
I have Audio Processing Defiency...
It makes me stronger
It makes me taller
It makes me more loving.
