The War of Words
Sometimes there aren't enough words in the world to express the pain that lies just beneath the surface of our skin yet deep within the depths of our soul
There aren't enough words to describe the emotions that plague our minds and ravish our spirits
There is no way to cry out for help
There are no means of savior
When trapped in a world of such emptiness we're left with nowhere to run from our problems
Forced to confront the demons inside of us with no more than the strength that may or may not be contained in our hearts
No words can help us fight
No tears can win our war
So we reach deep inside ourselves to brandish the weapons of courage and perseverance hoping and praying that we don't come up short
There isn't always enough strength inside to defeat our enemies
The loss becomes unbearable in a world of constant conflict
Heart and mind
Body and spirit
Sense and soul
Sometimes there aren't enough words to talk us out of our problems
There aren't enough terms to save us from each other
There are even less that can save us from ourselves
And when that sad day comes when we run out of excuses and realize that we're losing the battle going on within us we are stuck in a place that no one ever wants to be
The reality of the situation is that it's out of your control
No one can help
No one can keep you safe
No one can protect you from the violent emotions and somber thoughts that race through your bloodstream and burden your mind
Help isn't coming
And then we discover that these battles don't only affect us
Withdrawal and isolation
Attempts to save those around us from becoming a casualty of war leave us stuck alone and others wondering where they went wrong
You didn't go wrong
You just need to be safe
Safe from the never ending war between two sides
The impossible attack on the inside of an average person
Subtly crying out for help
A silent surrender
Sometimes there aren't enough words in the world to help us save ourselves
Sometimes it's not worth it to try
Sometimes it's better to suffer in silence
And let both sides of you fight till the end
Fight til the death
And then you will be at peace
