Food.
Necessary for life and ooh it tastes so good, but what about the safety net it creates?
The bond it forms with you, saying "I'll protect you from the hate.
When you're struggling and down, it's me that'll pull you up,
and you'll feel better if you eat one more plate, drink one more...cup."
Well I fell into this trap, and I know it's a hole.
You just keep digging, digging, digging...
until one day you find you've got issues deeper than the things that hurt you,
depper than that bad grade or hurtful secret told,
And it just keeps getting deeper and further dug,
'cuz the hole makes you feel bad, but food's always been how you fill them holes.
So you just eat, eat, and...keep eating.
Falling into an enormous unending loop that it seems you can't get out of.
You're stuck.
Buried deep, and stuck.
Have you ever felt this way?
Like your life's passing you by as you watch in utter dismay?
You try to break the chain, and think just one good...day,
maybe then everything will be okay.
But then it's not and you don't know what to do, so you look to the sky and scream,
"God I need you!
I'm filled with holes and buried deep,
don't know how to help myself get out of this huge heap.
Please help me 'cuz I'm sick of this.
This circle that's repeating; not helping me, but breaking me down...
I need you.....
You....the redeemer, forgiver, and eternal friend,
please guide me through my life, take my..hand."
And just like that the storm begins to calm and the crashing waves quiet.
He wraps a healing shield around you, filling the holes,
healing the wounds.
You smile...
Smile. You haven't felt that way in a while,
and you realize it's no mystery or surprise.
He solves everything.
Big or small.
And even though you've ignored Him all these years, and thought "I can do it on my own,"
He's there.
And He loves you.
Food can't love you, it only hurt you in the past,
left you feeling even more unfulfilled, but God..
he balances you, helps you take good with the bad, and protects you.
He protects you.
And now, with the armor and shield of God, you can face the world.
Face those people who hurt you.
Those issues from the past, and the habits you fell into that you never want to see again.
Say goodbye to your food addiction,
and with God by your side look at food as it's meant.
Necessary to life, but not a miracle worker or void filler.
After all, why would God create another one, when you already have him?
Eternal Friend?
