A Voice

Sun, 02/23/2014 - 10:03 -- LNR

If I could change one thing,

I would give a voice to those who don’t have one.

I would give it to the animals that sit in cramped cages

With horrific conditions in the pitch-black fear.

I would shed light to open people’s minds.

I ‘d help the injured and report the hurt.

There would be no living being

Left affected by lack of compassion or affection

Stolen by economically driven farmers.

If I had it my way,

There wouldn’t be a tag

Dangling the price of a life off one’s neck.

I hear the unspoken cry

From the millions of animals

That sit behind hidden lies

That the food market feeds us.

I believe in humanity and its raw power to make a difference

Not only I,

But we can all make a change.

I would give the animals and people and market

A voice to scream for humane treatment

To the other living creatures

That walks this world with us.
