Violence

Violence on the streets,

Bang. Bang. There goes another.

The news is a broken record, it repeats:

"Shot and killed", "found dead", "gang related".

Violence in a videogame match,

Bang. Bang. My little brother

Shoots down one of his friends, dispatch.

Respawn, revive, redeem your life.

Violence over the sea,

Bang. Bang. A fallen solider

Fighting for the gangs and my little brother to be free,

Protecting this country with their life.

Maybe the violence will just be forgotten.

We pay less attention,

It just happens too often.

Until the day it affects us.

Only then will we have concern

For the safety of our children and the people who serve.

And only then will we learn,

It is too late, violence controls the world.
