On the Verge of I Love You

From the moment I walked in my first day,

I was on the verge of "I love you."

You told me I was rare, an old soul,

I didn't know then, but my life was about to change as a whole.

From the night you pulled me close under the fireworks,

I was on the verge of "I love you."

You let me drive your truck and that's a big deal,

I didn't know then, but you had a love that could heal.

From the time I jumped on the back of your dirtbike,

I was on the verge of "I love you."

You made me feel safe, as if nothing could harm me,

I didn't know then, but you had plans for a "we."

From the hours I cried into your t-shirt,

I was on the verge of "I love you.'

You held me and somehow I knew we'd get through,

I didn't know then, but you were thinking it too.

From the moment I spoke, in tear soaked sobs,

I finally got the courage to say "I love you."

You pulled me close and whispered in my ear,

In that moment I knew, you loved me and you wouldn't disappear.
