Valedictorian Speech

We're not supposed to say that we were stressed.

We're not supposed to say that we were exhausted.

Congratulations, you passed that test!

Now don't be an academic hot head.

(Please, just do what is good for us,

and it is good to keep it in)

And it is good to be humble,

But in forced humility we start to grumble.

That "they don't see me" or

"wait...did we learn this?"

And sometimes they don't, and sometimes you didn't,

But you got through that pain with someone exquisite.

Or someones. I don't know your story, but for me

There was a friend, a theacher or two, maybe three

Who helped with the pain and the pressure of success

And today, after those four years a mess we'll cry "yes!"

Because we are here, we survived.

Our hearts, minds, even our pride

Still intact, still working just fine,

And all the stronger for time spent, all those times,

Struggling to learn, to make friends, to stay sane.

In the end it was more than just a game.

Sure, there were scores--A, B, C, D, or F--

And here we've all won because we learned som new stuff,

But what's important is that we grew, we matured,

With the help from those here whose respect we gave and earned.

And this is the key thing they want us to remember

To "be kind always, no matter"

For in doing so, who knws?

We can change the world,

Maybe, let's make it better.
