I am not here to help you forget the reasons your scars showed up on your skin.

I am not here to cushion the impact of your heart against the ground.

I am not here to be the tourniquet that reluctantly twists and shapes itself to temporarily pause the blood surging out your veins.

I don’t want to be the crutch that makes wandering around less painful. I want to be the person that makes you want to love again.

I want to be the only reason you decide that your old scars will make you strong enough to love me.

I am not here for you to distract yourself and your heartache.

My love is too honest, and too bold to have it thrown back at my face.
