The Unveiling of the Mask

My mask is complicated, intricate, and colorful,

But I am broken inside.

My heart hurts from all of this pain,

And all cries for help are denied.

I hide behind my mask all day and all night,

I want to shut out the world.

But I hide for so long that I lose control

And my plans and ambitions unfurled.

I cry behind my mask and I hope for the best,

But the best is far far away.

I want some peace and traquility

before my pain is put on display.

I'm tired of hiding behind my fake mask,

And so today I tell you this.

I am throwing my mask to the side just to say

something you don't want to miss.

Hiding will not make your problems disappear,

listen to someone who knows way to well.

Confront the problems and pains and fears

and bid those negative feelings farewell.

Expect the best when the mask is off,

As for me, I'm throwing it aside.

My true self is important to myself and my health,

And to my friends and family I will confide.

To all of you reading this I vehemently tell you,

the mask is not worth the hassle.

Throw it away and tell the world,

"My mask won't keep me from my castle."
