Unsuspecting Night

A misty dusk falls softly on the trees

Which leaves are crisp with water’s frosty breath.

Its rushing motion underneath their eaves

S’portrayed by hasty sunlight’s daily death.

The orb of this calm spritely night

Enlightens nature’s ingenuity.

With falling river flowing out of sight

The scene has mother earth’s serenity.

The clouds are trav’ling fast, and with the wind

Comes rain and hail and lightning through the breeze.

Soon mud has clogged the river which has pinned

The water’s lowland residents with ease.

But come again the warming sun up high

When storm has left its peak and fled the sky.
