Unseen Hurt

You see a smile on the outside; I see a frown on the inside.

You hear laughs on the outside; I hear crying on the inside.

You hear me talk, I hear myself staying quiet.

Every smile has a frown

Every laugh has a tear

And every word has unspoken words.

I now have this big black lock on my heart, with no key to enter.

You will never see the hurt within, you will assume I’m okay, but still there’s my unseen hurt.

You see me walk out as if I’m happy, I walk out in sorrow.

Every person on the outside has a hurtful story on the inside.

My pain is hidden behind my masks of deception.

One day I won’t be here and you’ll be standing there wondering what happened

And all I’ll leave behind is my unseen hurt.
