Unloved

Unloved things

Whatever they are

However lonely

However much despair

Are all around us

And yet do we

With our x-ray vision

And wonders see?

No, no we can’t see

They don’t want us to

If we did then what would we do

We’d scorn and we’d mock

Unveil and unleash

We’d drive them away

To another lonely rock

There let them stay.

But why can some

Who see their pain

Understand them so fully

And send them so happy

Along their life’s lane

Singing or whistling

A happy new tune

When before their

Face was all puckered

Like that of a prune

They skip like they have

A new life in store

One just waiting for

Wings to soar

New songs to sing

Soon to take wing

A lifetime of loving and living

So to those of most import,

The weak and downtrod

The lonely things among us.

To those who can make

Every life better by one simple act

Of chivalry or friendship

I beg you to do something

Don’t sit at home

Come out in the streets

Baptize with fire, a new race of peace.
